6-1-23   THOUGHTS

Rom 5:17 ends with... “much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”   Yesterday’s post led me to thinking of our running this race that we are in. It is alternatively called a war, one against evil and Satan.  It is our LIFE!  It is how we spend our life!  It’s what proves by our living, what we value and honor as important.  How I live shows what I believe, all verbiage aside.
John 14:15  "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

1Cor 9:25-27   Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.  26  Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; [not shadow boxing]  27  but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
Heb 12:1    Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Php 2:16   holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.
Php 3:10-14   that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;  11  in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.   12  Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.  13  Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Luke 8:14  "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
Rom 13:12 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Eph 4:22-24   that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,  23  and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,  24  and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
2Tim 2:4  No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
Matt 24:13   "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Jas 5:7-8   Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains.  8  You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

My Prayer:
O Lord,  let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, holding fast the word of life.    In the name of Jesus,     Amen.
